October General Meeting:

Fr. McCain opened the meeting with a prayer.  He then went on to discuss Proposition 85.  He wanted to remind parents that this proposition is important in that it requires medical offices to notify parents when minors are terminating a pregnancy.  This is to inform the parents, not receive permission, and Father believes that it is an important link in communication between parents and teenagers in this situation.

The meeting was then turned over to Officer Sasha Domico for a presentation regarding safety of our school children.  She gave an update regarding the two recent assaults against students attending Sinoloa Middle School.  She reinforced the importance of talking about safety with our children and the “run, yell, and tell” method that they currently teach in the schools.

This presentation was followed by updates from the fundraiser leads as discussed in the board minutes.

Mrs. Carrol gave a financial update.  Questions were answered.

Mrs. Stubbs gave a volleyball update.  Over 60 girls are involved in the CYO program here at Our Lady of Loretto.

Ms. Maino closed the meeting with an update regarding the school.  The computer program has been very successful and continues to expand in the classroom.  The program “Out of Harm’s Way” was introduced and information was provided.  For more information, please see the website for dates and times.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.
