Pastor’s Report:

  • Boy's bathroom:  This bathroom, as well as the girl’s, is in need of immediate renovation. It will take significant financial support and needs to be evaluated.

  • Stained glass windows in the church:  Several Parish groups are making donations and it was suggested that the PTG make a contribution as well.  A plaque will be hung in the church with those donations listed.  The total cost of the repair to the windows is $62,00 and so far over $30,000 has been raised.

  • Research is ongoing regarding building a new school.

Principal’s Report:

  • “Beyond Technology”:  This computer company has been hired to provide educators to come in and teach computer education in the classroom.  35 laptop computers were purchased and on Tuesdays and Thursdays, computer education will be taught in the classroom with each student working on a laptop.  The company provides the curriculum, the maintenance on the computers, and additional inservicing for our teachers as well.

  • Enrollment:  264 students are enrolled for the start of school.

  • Back-to-School Pot Luck:  this will be held on September 9th after the 5 pm Mass.  Mrs. Bell from the welcome committee is chairing this event with the help of Cindy Wise.  Volunteers will be solicited at the Back-to-School coffee to help with this event.  An email was sent to ‘save the date’ and a flyer will go out the first week of school.

  • Buddies:  7th grade and Kindergarten students were paired up and letters were sent home to facilitate communication between the buddies before school starts.  There will be an ongoing commitment of communication between school families.

  • This year’s student council will write a new constitution.

  • OLL Running Club:  This will be offered for K-3rd.  These students get the opportunity at the 2:00 recess on Tuesdays and Thursdays to participate in a supervised run on the playground to work toward a marathon.  Awards will be given to those students who accomplish their goal.

  • Electives:  After a successful first year, these will be offered again this year.  Chess will also be offered as an after-school activity again this year.

  • History Books:  With the arrival of the new books, the school is now up to date.  The books have a technology component as well, which allows self-study, quizzes, activities, etc. to enhance the history experience.

  • Geography:  Maps and globes have been added to the classrooms.

Chairperson’s Report:

  •  Website:  We now have a PTG board email address to communicate and receive input and questions from families.

  • Survey:  The board will put together approximately 10 questions for a survey that will go out to all of the families.  It was suggested that we utilize an online survey tool called SurveyMonkey.com.  This website will collect and organize the information in a report.

  • General Meeting:  The first general meeting will be on October 10th.  No agenda has been decided at this time.

  • Back-to-School Coffee:  We will need to be there early on the first day to make sure the tables are set up and ready for the coffee.

  • Directory:  It was proposed that the directory should be changed to a CD format and be available on the website.

  • Fundraisers:  The 2006-2007 fundraisers are set.

Wrapping Paper:  Dan and Jill Kelly

Christmas Luncheon:  Kerry Laval is recruiting for that chairperson.

  • Sweetheart Dance:  It was proposed and approved to put this fundraiser on the 2007-2008 Calendar to replace the crab feed next year.
