Principals Report:

  • Currently, we have 250 students with signed contracts for next year.  They are projecting the student body to increase to 270 over the summer when all of the contracts are finalized.  There are several changes in the faculty.  Mrs. Wright is retiring, Ms. Conley and Mr. Carlson are relocating, and Ms. Weisgerber is leaving.  Ms. Lynch has accepted the 2nd grade teaching position in order to facilitate First Communion next year.  Interviews are still taking place for the 3rd grade position and for Computers.  Ms. Quinlan has moved to the 8th grade and will be teaching middle school Math and Religion.  Mr. David Smith has been hired to fill the 6th grade teaching position.  He will be teaching History and Math for the middle school.  The assistant principal position has been reconfigured and will be an administrative team.  The team consists of Ms. Maino, Ms. Quinlan, and Mrs. Herrera.  Their focus will be divided between discipline, student affairs, and religious affairs in the order named.  Ms. Gould’s schedule will also change, increasing her time on the campus.  More focus will be spent on certain grades and their particular issues, for instance, 4th grade and cliques, and etc.   The conflict managers will also be changed.  The 7th grade will provide conflict management on the playground with the K-3rd graders and 8th grade will be peer counselors for 4th –6th grades.  More after-school programs will be available.  The first programs will be chess and golf.

  • Computer update:  There is a new program, “Beyond Technology”, that will be introduced next year.  It will involve lessons for 1st through 8th breaking down computer tasks, for example spreadsheets, and integrating each class’s projects with technology.  The staff will receive 30 hours of instruction and then follow-up in-services and support will be provided.

  • PTG funds allotted for staff computer in-service will be redirected to purchasing a domain server.  This will enable the teachers to load programs once instead of individually on each computer.

  • New social studies texts are being reviewed.  Many of the options have online components.

  • Electives for the Middle school were enjoyed this year by teachers and students and will continue next year.  Electives are every Wednesday from 2-3 pm.  New electives are offered each quarter and students are able to choose.

Chairperson’s Report:

  •  Plans were reviewed for the Beach Party Sock Hop.  The DJ has been hired.  Lisa, including times for the games and special dances for the DJ, will provide a schedule of events.  Lisa has ordered the balloons, the items to give away and the prizes.  Virginia has reserved the popcorn machine and the sno-cone machine.  Lori has the shopping list and will store the refreshments in the hall.  Hula hoops are being borrowed from Keane Care. Set-up will begin at 4 pm on the 19th.  Decorations will be done in a Hawaiian theme.
