ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Call to order: Cathy called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and asked Fr. McCain to lead us in an opening prayer.

VERIFICATION OF QUORUM:

Roll Call: The following Pastoral Council (PC) members were present: Tom Berg,

Holly Holderby, Cathy Timmer, Tim Troy and Fr. McCain (ex-oficio member).

Guests: Bob Cretti, Christian Enrichment Committee, Joe Corby and Kris Wiley, Communications Committee and Carol Jacobsen, (Ad-Hoc) Hall Committee.

Adoption of Minutes of Previous Meeting: Cathy made a motion that the minutes of the November 1st meeting be accepted and approved. The motion was seconded and all were in favor.

NEW BUSINESS:

Matters of Interest: Discussion with Committee Chairs attending.

(Ad-Hoc) Hall Committee: Carol Jacobsen of Helping Hands and Chair of the (Ad-Hoc) Hall Committee reported that the Committee had scheduled two meetings; one was a planning meeting the other will be an organizational meeting, scheduled for Thursday, December 7th at 6:30 pm. The organizational meeting will be to establish two procedures; one for food preparation and handling; the other for cleaning the kitchen after use and preparing the kitchen for the next activity. The procedures and rules will be translated and clearly posted in English and Spanish. One member from the Committee will take position as a Certified Food Handler, required by the Marin County Environmental Health. Carol said that she thought Angie (ICF) would be willing to take the position. The Committee will meet on a periodic basis next year for self monitoring, reporting deficiencies, informing the PC and Fr. McCain. The Council thanked Carol for all of her hard work.

Christian Enrichment Committee: Bob reported that the Committee usually planned two events a year. They are currently discussing a Lenten program and did become involved, through Jean and Jill, with the Advent retreat. Bob expressed his concern about warranting cost to the Parish when there is a low turn out. There were only about twelve people who attended Fr. Barbara’s presentation on capital punishment last October. Fr. McCain assured Bob that these presentations of Church teaching, adult catechesis, doctrine and moral theology were very important and needed to continue. A discussion ensued as to ways of supporting the Committee, bringing in speakers, increasing parish participation and attendance. The PC assured Bob of the very good job that he was doing and thanked him.

Communications Committee: Due to Cathy Becker’s condition the Committee is back to Kris Wiley and Joe Corby. Kris said that they were discussing the possibility of a new design for the bulletin. She said that the editing of the parish directory is currently in limbo, but she planned to contact all of the various Church groups to update information. She plans to take care of the picture frames in the front Church vestibule to reflect changes to the Councils.

Kris also reported that Olan Mills will take care of everything involved with the parish picture book and there is no need to seek out a parishioner to spearhead the project for the Church. They will make all of the picture appointments with sign ups after Mass, on-line sign ups and telephone appointments. They thought it would be a good time to start the campaign in March, right before Easter, possibly right before First Holy Communion. Kris said it would be good to have both directory’s available at approximately the same time.

Joe said the parish web page had no updates and no input. He dropped the calendar due to lack of information and updates from the various organizations. He said that he would like to keep the web page accurate, also with information including the C.C.D. Joe said that the parish web page was still in phase one. He had looked at several other Church web sites and said he wanted to keep OLL’s simple and easy to get into. The home page has a shared domain with the school and Joe will update the parish portion. Joe said he felt the organizations have forgotten the site as a tool and it would be helpful if a letter were sent once a month asking for updates. Kris said that she would try to funnel, instituting a monthly note and forward the updates.

Joe said that he was working on links, so parishioners would be able to connect with a daily spiritual reflection on the gospel. The Pastoral Council thanked Kris and Joe for all of their hard work and efforts and asked them to please keep the PC informed as to how we can assist and support them.

Reports of Officers and Other OLL Boards:

Chair: Cathy had no report. She said that she loved Fr. McCain’s surprise party honoring

20 years of Ordination to the priesthood. Cathy also reminded the Council to be clear regarding the amended Pastoral Council Constitution and By-Laws.

Vice Chair: No report.

Secretary: No report.

From the Pastor:

Fr. McCain spoke to the PC about the Wellness Health Clinic that has opened in the corner by Albertson’s Market. They will be heavily recruiting and attracting youth and the Hispanic Community. He said that although they will be doing some good things there, Planned Parenthood would have a presence two to three days a week. Father said that to his knowledge, abortions will not be performed on the premise but girls will be taken to another location. He asked the Council to think about what we should do regarding this matter.

Comments from the Council members: Several dates were discussed with Father regarding the installation Mass for the Pastoral Council. It was decided on the Feast of the Epiphany, Sunday, January 7, 2007 at 10:30. Again, all Council members said how great Father’s party was and said what a great job Erin Troy and Patsy Berg had done.

Father led us in a closing prayer and the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 pm.

Respectfully submitted, Holly Holderby, Secretary
