MATTERS OF INTEREST:

Committee Reports:

Communications Committee: Cathy said that Olan Mills has contacted the Church regarding the parish directory. Edna Irving spearheaded the project in the past. Cathy will ask Edna if she would be willing to work on organizing the project again.

Youth Committee: Steve reported that the first youth Mass would be Sunday, November 5th.

It is hoped that the first Sunday of each month will become the youth Mass and the youth will be involved with the liturgy. Another movie night is scheduled for Friday, November 10th in the convent. No date has been scheduled as of yet, to meet with Fr. Dan regarding the possibility of youth ministry participation with St. Anthony’s.

Christian Enrichment Committee (CEC): Jean reported to the PC that the Church was planning an Advent retreat with Fr. Jude Siciliano, O.P. and Sr. Patricia Bruno, O.P. the first week of December. This is a working persons retreat, enabling the parish communities participation in some or all of the reflections, which would be about 1½hours. Cathy suggested that this time also be used as the Pastoral Council retreat and asked council members for their attendance and support.

Spiritual Growth Committee: No report. Cathy said that we need members for this committee.

Community Formation Committee: No report. Cathy said that she would contact Larry Mazzotta and ask if he was still interested in heading this committee.

(Ad-Hoc) Parish Hall Committee: No report

Reports of Officers and Other OLL Boards:

Chair: Cathy reported that Sue Coddington decided to step off of the Council. Fr. McCain will appoint another Council member. Cathy presented Tim with a card and gift certificate for a dinner out with his wife, Annie, congratulating them on the birth of their baby boy, Christopher Philip.

Hispanic Directiva: Carmen reported that the group had made approximately $14,000 from the food festival and grand Kermesse. Preparations are under way for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is Tuesday, December 12th. The festivities begin with a parade on Grant Avenue leading up to the Church. A reenactment of Juan Diego’s vision of the Virgin of Guadalupe and Mass will be celebrated. Then ending with a gathering in the parish hall.

Finance Board: No report

School Board: No report

NEW BUSINESS:

Matters of Interest: Election of Pastoral Council Officers.

Tom Berg made a motion that Cathy Timmer be re-elected and continues serving as Chair Person for the Council. The motion was seconded and all were unanimously in favor. Cathy accepted.

Holly Holderby made a motion that Tom Berg be elected to serve as Vice-Chair. The motion was seconded and all were in favor. Tom accepted.

Steve Morris made a motion that Holly Holderby continue serving as Secretary. The motion was seconded and all were in favor. Holly accepted and asked Eris Rodriguez to be back up in case of absence.

Cathy said that she would talk with Fr. McCain regarding the installation of the Council with a possible Mass for Council members and their spouses.

Cathy said that the Advent retreat would act as the Pastoral Council retreat and all were in agreement.

OLD BUSINESS:

Discussion ensued as to how to get information from Council to Parishioners. Several ideas were put forth and will be explored. It was also discussed on how to implement the theme of "Praying Together, Staying Together."

The details for Fr. McCain’s surprise party were finalized and all interested in helping should contact Erin at the rectory.

Comments from Council Members: Holly recommended the possibility of combining the Spiritual Growth Committee with the Christian Enrichment Committee, saying that they are hand in glove conducive to one another. Jean said that this idea had come up in the past. Tim said that he thought it would be a good idea for each committee to put forth their mission and all thought it would be good to have members from each committee at the next Council meeting.

With the planning of Father’s party and the holidays, this might not be a reality until January.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:30 and Steve led us in a closing prayer.

Respectfully submitted, Holly Holderby, Secretary
