SUMMARY: Motion made to adopt minutes from May 2nd meeting. Reports to Pastoral Council from standing Committees. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Next Pastoral Council meeting is Wednesday, September 5th. Parish picnic at Miwok Park is Saturday, September 23rd. Call to order: Cathy called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and Fr. McCain led us in an opening prayer. VERIFICATION OF QUORUM: Roll Call: The following PC members were present: Tom Berg, Holly Holderby, Steve Morris, Cathy Timmer, Tim Troy and (ex-officio members) Patrick Reeder and Fr. McCain. Adoption of Minutes of Previous Meeting: While Fr. McCain was in Italy, the PC June meeting was suspended and a joint ecumenical meeting with some PC members took its place. The Pastoral Council does not meet in the month of July. A motion was made to adopt the minutes of the May PC meeting. Cathy noted a correction. Tom Berg made a motion to adopt the minutes as corrected and Tim Troy seconded the motion, with all in favor. MATTERS OF INTEREST: None at this time COMMITTEE REPORTS: Communications Committee: No report. Youth Committee: Tim reported that the Committees search for a Youth Minister has yielded two star candidates. A decision and approval should be reached in the next four to six weeks. Steve reported that the golf tournament was ahead of schedule in fund raising. There is over $1,000.00 just in raffle ticket money. Five properties are up for the highest bid in the auction held at the dinner. There are roughly eighty golfer signed up as of date. The Golf Tournament Committee will meet next Monday to finalize plans for the event. Christian Enrichment Committee (CEC): Bob Cretti reported that the Committee met on June 13th. The Committee has two new members, Carolyn Mueller and Miranda Rico. The Committee discussed topics for a fall presentation and asked the PC for their opinion and approval. A discussion of the various parts, and their meanings, of the Mass. The history and meaning of the various symbols found in the Church, including the Our Lady of Loretto statue. The Committee will hold its next meeting, Wednesday, August 8th at 7:30 pm in the library. Spiritual Growth Committee: No report. Community Formation Committee: No report REPORTS OF OFFICERS AND OTHER OLL BOARDS:. Chair: Cathy reported that she will Chair the OLL parish picnic and there will be an organizational meeting on August 16th at 7:00 pm. Cathy also said that Eris Rodriguez needed assistance with the Nominating Committee and that she had given Eris names of individuals that could possibly help. Vice Chair: Tom reported that he has not had favorable response from some of the Church organizations to re-establish coffee and donuts after the 9:00am Sunday Mass. Secretary: Holly gave a brief over-view of the June meeting that took place at All Saints Lutheran Church. In common was; low Church attendance, lack of youth in Church, affordable housing, family unity and dwindling middle class. Hispanic Directiva: No report. Finance Board: Patrick reported that the Finance Board would meet on Monday, August 6th. A financial statement will be presented to the Parish in September. As of date, the AAA fund is approx. $32,000 below the required assessment. Only eight families out of one hundred and ninety families registered at Our Lady of Loretto School, have contributed thus far. School Board: The School Board will meet on Monday, August 20th at 7:00 pm. NEW BUSINESS: None at the time. OLD BUSINESS: With the PC in favor of a Capital Campaign, it was discussed of the need to present " how much and what for " to the Parish community. It was thought and advised to Fr. McCain, that the first step would be obtaining an architect. The Nominating Committee, spearheaded by Eris Rodriguez will be seeking and presenting to the Parish, candidates for the open positions on the Pastoral Council. The election will take place in October. Father McCain is still seeking a candidate for the PC that will represent the Hispanic Community. FROM THE PASTOR: The school had $28,000.00 budgeted for improvements. Classrooms have been painted and new flooring installed. The bathroom partitions have been replaced and will be painted. COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL MEMBERS: Steve Morris will not be present at the next Pastoral Council meeting. Steve will be married over Labor Day weekend and will be on his honeymoon in Hawaii.
