SUMMARY:

Motion made to adopt minutes from April 4th meeting.

Reports to Pastoral Council from standing Committees.

Sister Jeanette speaks to the Pastoral Council.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

· Next Pastoral Council meeting is Wednesday, June 6,2007.

· Golf Tournament Wednesday, August 22, 2007.

Call to order: Cathy called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and Steve Morris led us in an opening prayer.

VERIFICATION OF QUORUM:

Roll Call: The following PC members were present: Tom Berg, Holly Holderby, Steve Morris, Eris Rodriguez, Cathy Timmer, Tim Troy and (ex-officio member) Patrick Reeder. Guest: Sister Jeanette

Adoption of Minutes of Previous Meeting: A motion was made to adopt the minutes of the April PC meeting. Patrick noted a correction and Steve Morris made a motion to adopt the minutes as corrected. Tim Troy seconded the motion and all were in favor.

MATTERS OF INTEREST:

Sister Jeanette spoke to the PC regarding consideration of a joint meeting between the Pastoral Council’s of All Saints Lutheran Church, St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church and Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church. She spoke with the Pastor’s from the other two Church’s and they thought that it would be good to have a joint meeting, discussing issues, concerns and challenges of life in Novato.

Sister Jeanette asked the PC to discuss this matter and let her know if we would be in agreement.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Communications Committee: Kris Wiley reported that the turnout for the Olan Mills Church directory was very disappointing. Only 168 families had their pictures taken. That is 300 less pictures than the 2001 Church directory.

Olan Mills gives the Church credit for the number of pictures taken and these credits are used to pay for the number of pages in the directory. Minus these, the Church has to pay for the pages in the directory.

Tim suggested that we try for a second push and see if Olan Mills would return for another scheduled weekend of pictures. It was thought that September would be a good month with students returning from summer break and back to school.

Steve asked if there could be a possibility of submitting digital family pictures, if this would be acceptable with Olan Mills and how much it would cost.

Cathy said that she would present these ideas to Kris and keep us updated.

Youth Committee: Steve reported that the Youth Masses have been very successful. The sixth Youth Liturgy is Sunday, May 6th at 5 pm. The Youth Masses will be resuming full swing in September.

Tim and Steve reported that the Committee held a sixth interview and there are some strong candidates for a Youth Minister. They should have a proposal to present and be approved by Fr. McCain in mid May.

Christian Enrichment Committee (CEC): Bob Cretti reported the Committee will meet on May 9th and analyze the survey that they conducted. The survey will help steer the Committee in organizing and scheduling activities of interest for the parish. The Committee usually organizes two activities, one in October (Respect Life Month) and the other during Lent.

The next CEC meeting will be Wednesday, June 13th at 7:30 pm in the OLL Library.

Spiritual Growth Committee: No report.

Community Formation Committee: No report.

Reports of Officers and Other OLL Boards:

Chair: Cathy said that she would not put together the Relay for Life Team this year. She noted decreasing parish participation in this event but said she would make arrangements to sell luminaries (that represent survivors of cancer or someone who has died from cancer) after the Masses.

Vice Chair: Tom said that he was planning on meeting with the School Board in June. Tom will also get e-mail information from Kris Wiley and will e-mail the Parish organizations, trying to encourage more participation for the directory.

Secretary: No report.

Hispanic Directiva: No report.

Finance Board: No report.

School Board: Patrick reported that enrollment was up at the time of this meeting to 254 students and would more than likely exceed the 255 number of students budgeted for the upcoming school year.

Patrick said the school auction went very well.

NEW BUSINESS:

No new business at this time.

OLD BUSINESS:

The Capital Campaign steering group had its first meeting, which was an organizational meeting. They will keep us updated and informed.

Someone from the PC was needed to head the nominating committee and Cathy asked Eris Rodriguez to take on this task. Eris will be organizing and seeking out parishioners interested in running for the open positions in October on the PC.

The golf tournament meeting will be May 14th. Al Angulo is working diligently to organize the event, which will take place on Wednesday, August 22nd.

FROM THE PASTOR:

No report.

COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL MEMBERS:

A discussion ensued about what happened to and bringing back coffee and donuts after Mass. The PC decided that coffee and donuts should be brought back to OLL and will look to implement.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 pm with a closing prayer.

Respectfully submitted, Holly Holderby, Secretary
